"Rental software" hides two different products under one name: software that manages your rentals, and a platform that grows them. Four of the five systems in this comparison are the first kind. One is the second — and yes, we build it. Read the Rentouri section knowing that, and hold us to the same standard we apply to everyone else: what each product does today. Public pricing and feature information was checked in August 2026 and re-verified in September 2026 against vendor sites, help centers and review platforms.
What a ski or bike rental shop actually needs
Most rental software is built for a generic renter: party equipment one week, power tools the next. That generality is the problem. A ski shop lives or dies on a few specifics:
Size and spec, not quantity. A 165 cm and a 178 cm of the same model are different products. Software that can't hold that relationship pushes the work onto whoever stands at the counter on Saturday morning.
Overlapping-date availability. A seven-day booking blocks a specific pair for seven days. Simple stock counters get this wrong every week — and every miss is a guest holding a confirmation for gear that's already out.
A booking page guests finish. Real dates, real prices, instant confirmation, card payment up front. Not a contact form.
A counter that is fast. Handover and return in seconds, on whatever device sits at the desk.
Demand you don't have to buy. Empty midweek days cost most shops more than their entire software bill.
The question no vendor wants you to ask: where do bookings come from?
Here is the part of the industry nobody puts on a pricing page. When you buy Booqable, Rentrax, RentMy or Toolero, you buy admin software — and you keep the hardest job for yourself. You still need a website. You still pay an agency or an IT software house to build and maintain it — easily thousands of euros before a single booking arrives. You still fund the marketing that makes anyone find it. The software bill is the small line item; the do-it-yourself online ecosystem around it is the real cost.
Rentouri deletes that entire cost center. Your shop lives on rentouri.com: guests search the map by location, dates and sport, see only gear that is actually available in their size, pick the exact model, pay by card — and the booking lands in your calendar confirmed and prepaid. Your Rentouri page is your online presence: fast, localized for international guests, indexed, with structured data search engines and AI assistants can read.
You don't need a website. You don't need a web agency. You don't need a booking plugin, hosting, or a developer on retainer. The complete online-booking ecosystem is part of the ERP subscription — one flat fee. No other product in this comparison offers anything like it, and it is the single biggest reason to choose Rentouri.
The going rate for a delivered customer
The software subscription is only half of the comparison — the other half is what it costs when someone else brings you the booking. And here the industry goes quiet: none of the ski-rental booking platforms — Alpy (formerly Alpinresorts), CheckYeti, Skiset, Snowell — publishes the commission it charges shops. What is public is the consumer side: Alpy advertises prices "up to 65% below" walk-in rates — a discount its partner shops fund before any commission is even counted. For the reference points that are published: mainstream travel platforms take roughly 14–25% for delivering a guest, and industry guides put resort base-area rental concessions at 20–40% of revenue.
| Channel | Published take | What the shop gets |
|---|---|---|
| Rentouri marketplace | 4–7%, published | A booking at your own full price; walk-ins always 0% |
| Ski booking platforms (Alpy, CheckYeti, Skiset, Snowell) | Not published | Bookings at discounted consumer prices the shop funds |
| Travel platforms (Airbnb, Booking.com — reference) | ~14–25% | The mainstream rate for a delivered guest |
| Resort base-area concessions | 20–40% per industry guides | On-mountain placement |
The value math is short. A typical marketplace booking — a full ski set for four days at Alpine rates — is worth about €140. Rentouri Growth is €99 a month. One delivered booking a month covers the entire software bill, marketplace included. Everything after that is margin a do-it-yourself website would have cost you thousands to chase.

Booqable
The default answer when a shop googles "rental software": thousands of customers, a decade of reviews, a cheap base subscription, a hosted storefront, mobile POS, e-signatures, Stripe deposit holds. The core product is intuitive, the variant model is structural, and the integration list is the broadest here.
Two things to know before you sign. First, it is deliberately general-purpose — ski is a landing page, not a workflow. No sizing flows, no fitting concepts, no counter-day operations, and overbooking is handled with a configurable "allowance" rather than a guarantee. Second, the sticker price is a starting bid: the store builder, POS ($12/user/mo), barcode scanning ($12/user/mo), delivery and every extra location cost extra, and e-signatures plus API access sit behind the $69 tier. And after all of it, every booking still comes from your own website and your own marketing budget.
Rentrax
The one competitor with real bike and ski DNA — it grew out of a Vancouver rental shop, and it shows: a DIN binding-configuration tool, renter measurement fields, group rentals, maintenance and e-bike battery tracking, plus the most seasonal-friendly pricing in the field (transaction-metered tiers that automatically step down in slow months). Support reviews are excellent.
The catch: reviewers call the admin "clunky" and "page-heavy" with confusing inventory management, and interface changes ship overnight without warning. Size variants are attribute workarounds, not structure. There's a $395 setup fee, cancelled orders count toward your transaction meter — and for European shops the decisive problem: no documented multi-currency support, no VAT or EU invoicing story at all, and North American payment gateways.
RentMy
An ambitious US all-in-one: full POS, chain-of-custody barcode scanning, and the deepest delivery stack in this comparison — zones, route optimization, driver apps via its Routific integration, shipping labels — plus rent-to-own and promo tooling.
The fine print bites: $39/month plus a $249 setup fee plus 9.9% and $0.30 per order — charged even on cancellations — and another $99/month to use your own payment processor. Its flagship WordPress plugin was closed on wordpress.org in June 2026 over a security issue, the harshest of its few public reviews calls the navigation "absolutely infuriating", and there is no EU capability at all.
Toolero
Not rental commerce — a Polish QR-based asset tracker: staff-managed reservation calendar, PDF agreements signed on a tablet, deposit bookkeeping with no money movement. It is cheap (99–469 PLN/month, unlimited users, plans capped at 50–500 items) and it has one genuinely valuable feature for Polish firms: KSeF e-invoicing, mandatory in Poland from 2026. Much of its marketing targets internal equipment tracking — construction, manufacturing, events — rather than renting to the public.
What it cannot do: online booking, payments, marketplace, API, native apps. Staff type everything. It is also run by a sole proprietorship — worth weighing for a system your business depends on daily.
Rentouri: the whole machine, one flat fee
We built Rentouri to be the system we couldn't find anywhere on this list: one platform that brings the bookings in and runs the shop. Three products in one subscription:
A marketplace that works for you. Guests search rentouri.com by location, dates and sport, pick the exact model and size, and pay by card. The booking arrives in your calendar confirmed and prepaid. This is Rentouri's core difference — no other rental platform on the market has it, and it is why we say we're not competing with admin software; we're replacing the whole buy-software-then-build-a-website model.
A storefront that replaces your website. Your shop page is your online presence — live inventory, photos, reviews, opening hours, instant booking. No agency, no hosting, no maintenance contract.
An ERP built for gear. Serial-numbered inventory per size, commission-free walk-in POS with split payments, barcode check-out and check-in, e-signed rental agreements, deposit pre-authorization with automatic release, and EU-grade invoicing — gapless numbering, per-line VAT, EUR and PLN. Every one of those features is included in the flat fee. There is no add-on price list at Rentouri. There never will be.
And the guarantee that makes the marketplace promise honest: availability is enforced per size at the database level, at the moment of booking. A family booking four sets for the same week gets all four in the right sizes, or the booking doesn't happen. Not a calendar someone checks — a constraint the system cannot violate.
Two honest facts, because we hold ourselves to this article's standard. Rentouri is the newest platform here, which means fewer logos on the website — and it also means you get what established vendors can't offer: speed and attention. We ship fast. Maintenance logging, delivery support and the installable staff PWA are on the roadmap now; more currencies and app languages are added when a shop needs them. If your counter needs something, you tell us and it ships — in weeks, not fiscal years. And onboarding is white-glove: we import your inventory with you, and support answers in your language, in your timezone, from the people who wrote the code.
Pricing: what it really costs
| Player | Model | Hidden costs to check | Seasonal fit |
|---|---|---|---|
| Booqable | $29 / $69 / $149 per month (annual) | Store builder, delivery and extra locations cost extra; POS and barcode are $12/user/mo each; e-sign and API gated to $69+ | Flat year-round |
| Rentrax | $29–999 per month by transaction volume | $395 setup; cancelled orders count as transactions; SMS metered | Auto-downgrades in low season |
| RentMy | $39 / $199 per month | $249 setup; 9.9% + $0.30 per order on entry tier; +$99/mo for your own processor | Flat |
| Toolero | 99 / 249 / 469 PLN per month | Reservations gated to mid tier; item-count caps | Flat |
| Rentouri | €99 / €199 per month flat + 4–7% on marketplace bookings only | None — no setup fees, no add-ons, no per-user charges; walk-ins commission-free | Commission scales with your bookings |
One pricing model in that table has no asterisks. That's deliberate: with Rentouri, the subscription is the whole bill, and the commission only exists when the marketplace has already put money in your till.
The wider field
Booqable, Rentrax, RentMy and Toolero are the systems shops most often shortlist against us, but we checked the rest of the market too. Prices below come from the vendors' own pricing pages, verified 3 September 2026 — as always, confirm current numbers with the vendor before you decide:
| Player | Published pricing | Worth knowing |
|---|---|---|
| Sharefox | €99–299/mo | Modules priced by assortment and locations; software only |
| Twice Commerce (ex-Rentle) | €0/mo + 1.5%, or €399/mo + 0.9% | Each location €99–199/mo extra; the percentage is a payment fee, not delivered demand |
| Bike Rental Manager | £569–2,199/yr | Tiers capped by your own rental revenue, with a 1.25–2.5% overage fee above the cap |
Wintersteiger's Easyrent — the legacy system many Alpine ski shops run today — publishes no pricing at all: quotes only. The pattern holds across the whole field: roughly €99 a month is simply what rental software costs before anyone brings you a single booking. The difference is what's included at that number.
How to choose in five minutes
If you run a ski, snowboard or bike rental shop in Europe, the choice is short: Rentouri is the only system that brings you bookings, guarantees availability per size, includes the counter and the paperwork, and charges one flat fee. That's the recommendation, and everything above is the evidence.
The edge cases where another tool fits better today:
- You rent generic equipment and your website already has traffic → Booqable.
- You're a bike or ski shop in North America → Rentrax.
- You run delivery-heavy rentals in the US → RentMy.
- You need internal equipment tracking in Poland for a few hundred złoty → Toolero.
One last filter, whichever way you lean: ask every vendor how their system handles a seven-day booking for four people of different heights across overlapping dates. The answer separates the products that understand rental from the ones that understand invoices — and of the five systems here, only one was built so the wrong answer cannot happen.

Frequently asked questions
What is the best ski rental software for the 2026/27 season?
Rentouri. It is the only platform that pairs a booking marketplace with a complete rental ERP: guests book on rentouri.com, availability is guaranteed per size at the database level, and POS, barcode scanning, e-signed agreements and EU-compliant invoicing are all included in one flat monthly fee. If you only need admin software and already generate your own traffic, Booqable from $29/month is the budget alternative.
Do I need my own website to take online bookings?
Not with Rentouri. Your shop page on rentouri.com is your storefront — live inventory, real prices, instant confirmation, card payment, localized for international guests. There is no web agency to hire, no plugin to maintain, no developer bill. With every other platform in this comparison, online booking still depends on a website you build, pay for and market yourself.
Is Booqable good for ski rentals?
Booqable is solid general rental software with thousands of customers, and it works for simple fleets. For ski specifically it has hard limits: no structural size-and-fit workflow, an 'overbooking allowance' instead of a guaranteed availability model, one currency per store, and paid add-ons for POS, barcode scanning and extra locations. It also brings you zero customers — every booking still comes from your own marketing.
How much does rental software really cost?
More than the sticker price. Booqable's $29/month becomes real money once you add the store builder, POS and barcode add-ons at $12 per user per month each. Rentrax charges a $395 setup fee and counts cancelled orders as billable transactions. RentMy's entry tier takes $249 up front plus 9.9% and $0.30 of every order. Rentouri is one flat fee — €99 or €199 per month with every feature included, no setup fees, no add-ons; commission applies only to bookings the marketplace brings you, and walk-in sales are always commission-free.
How much commission do ski rental booking platforms charge shops?
None of the ski-rental booking platforms — Alpy (formerly Alpinresorts), CheckYeti, Skiset, Snowell — publishes the commission it charges shops. What is public is the consumer side: Alpy advertises prices up to 65% below walk-in rates, a discount its partner shops fund. Rentouri's commission is published: 4–7%, charged only on bookings the marketplace delivers, at the shop's own prices — and walk-in sales are always commission-free.
